Need an amazing gift for this Mother’s Day? How about an invitation to your place for a home-cooked meal? Where you do the cooking?
The first step is making sure you have the proper appliance to get the job done. If you find yourself in need of a new range or stove in order to pull off your Mother’s Day surprise, stop by and see one of our expertly trained sales staff for assistance (to select a range — for cooking assistance you’ll need a different expert).
The most important thing to consider is what your cooking needs are and choose a range based on that.
There are two types of ranges: Gas or Electric.
Gas RangesGas Ranges can be either All Gas or Dual Fuel.
An All Gas range means both the cooktop and oven are powered by gas.
A Dual Fuel range features a gas cooktop (powered by either propane or natural gas) and an electric oven.
Considerations:
Check whether you have a gas hookup available (for either Natural Gas or Propane) and if you can meet installation requirements. A qualified technician can help with this.
If you’re looking for temperature control and high-heat capabilities for stove-top cooking but want the consistent heat of an electric oven, your best option is a Dual Fuel.
Gas cooking is measured in BTUs and offers powerful high-heat cooking options.
Electric RangesThere are a few options when it comes to Electric Ranges.
The traditional choice has been the Coil Top electric stove which is durable, though the cooking surface doesn’t offer the best temperature control.
Smooth-top ranges have burners hidden beneath a ceramic surface. They’re easy to clean and have flexible cooking options such as differently-sized elements and power levels. Smooth-top ranges come in two different formats:
Considerations:
With Induction cooking, you can adjust the cooking heat instantly. You will need to ensure you have induction compatible cookware. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of your cookware, your cookware is appropriate for Induction cooktops.
If energy conservation is important to you, induction cooktops are the most efficient option.
When choosing what works best for you, think about the type of cooking and baking you intend to do. Perhaps you would benefit most from a double oven so you can make a complete meal with dessert at once. Or maybe you want a stove with a warming drawer. Ovens featuring Convection cooking are very popular for baking as goods are cooked evenly and consistently. Other features could include a gliding rack for ease of use or electronic touch controls.
Once you’ve determined what types of features you think you would like to have on your new range, be sure to discuss your potential purchase with an expert to make sure you’re getting the best option for you.
And don’t forget to invite your mother over for a home-cooked meal more than just once a year on Mother’s Day.
