If you’re looking to buy a new washer and dryer, you’re in for a treat. Today’s washers and dryers are quieter, handier, and more energy-efficient than ever. Find out more in this interview with CTV’s Marke Driesschen.
CTV’s Marke Driesschen finds out from Trail Appliance’s Langley Sales Manager Justin, just what to look for when shopping for laundry machines.
Transcript:Marke: When people are buying new appliances, it’s probably been a while since they’ve done so, and there might be some new features to look for. That’s why my man Justin is here, to tell us about yeah, and this isn’t a purchase you make every week, you know, or whatever. It’s probably been a while, so what sort of thing should they look for?
Justin: Yeah you’re absolutely right, maybe once every ten years, basically. The new revolutionary features these days is how quiet these machines have gotten now. Basically if you start your wash cycle, you know, you’re watching your TV or doing whatever else you’re doing in the house, you won’t be hearing this washing machine, drying machine work. They’re super, super quiet. The other revolutionary feature is the steam cycles in these units now. So the steam cycle’s a very, very handy feature, especially in the dryers. It’s very practical. So every morning you can take what you want to wear, basically I take my suit, my pants, and I toss them in my steam dryer.
Marke: Wow! You don’t even have to send them to the dry cleaner.
Justin: Yeah, exactly! You know, you go about your morning routine, and then you come back to it, and your clothes are basically wrinkle-free.
Marke: Another thing you want to do, you want to save water, you want to save energy. A lot of these machines have those features too, right?
Justin: Yeah absolutely. 40 percent more efficient than your traditional washer/dryer, yeah.
Marke: Looking at space, here you got them two stacked together, or here you can put them side by side, depending on what your model is too. Anything else as far as taking care of not only your clothes, but also taking care of your machine?
Justin: Yeah, absolutely. One of the things people overlook is that when these doors are shut, they’re completely sealed. So when you do do a wash, you do want to keep the door ajar, basically like that, right? Not fully open or anything like that, but there is still a little bit of moisture that’s still within the machine after a wash, so just leaving the door open, just ajar, will dissipate any of the water that’s still there.
Marke: Okay, anything else we should look at? I guess just the cleaning out the filters too, regularly, on both the washer and the dryer.
Justin: Yeah, on the washer and the dryer, absolutely. So your dryer’s very traditional, the filter is now basically right here, and then in the washer, you basically have what you call kind of like a coin trap or whatever would be in your pockets kind of thing that you can access from the front.
Marke: Okay, the coin trap. That’s where all the change goes.
Justin: That’s where all the change goes, yeah. Might as well find yourself some money.
Marke: Right, thanks Justin.
Justin: No problem
