Want to design your kitchen to give it a modern look? Think sleek ovens and hidden dishwashers. Trail Product Expert Catherine Maxwell shows CTV’s Marke Driesschen what all the cool kitchen designers are doing these days.

Marke: When it comes to designing kitchens, incorporating all your appliances in the designs of those kitchens is becoming more prevalent instead of just having your appliances plunked in the middle of the kitchen. They are somewhere in the kitchen too, but this looks a little more streamlined. Our friend Catherine is here again to tell us about this, and this looks really nice.
Catherine: Absolutely. Here at Trail, we carry over 50 brands in the market, but what we’re seeing in trends in most of the brands is the flush integration of them. So they are sitting absolutely flush with your cabinet design on them. And a lot of them now stack horizontally for design in the kitchen. So when you have the space for it, putting them lengthwise really elongates your kitchen.
Marke: So it looks like you could do a catering business out of here, right? From the kitchen too.
Catherine: Absolutely! Another big thing is the side-swing door within the Bosch brand right now.
Marke: Okay.
Catherine: So this has been a very popular design in the kitchens as well.
Marke: Right. So where’s the dishwasher? Right here?
Catherine: Hidden away! Absolutely. To create that very integrated look, hidden behind a panel, therefore you don’t have any fingerprints in front of your stainless steel dishwasher as well.
Marke: Mmhmm, yeah, and like I said, it’s not in the usual place where you think about it, right under the sink, but it’s in a nice place. And it looks great, too!
Catherine: Absolutely it does.
Marke: What are some of the other trends you’re seeing in kitchen designs?
Catherine: Big trends running right now in the market right now is the modern-retro look. So brands such as Bertazzoni, which is an Italian brand, really lends itself to that design, and they’re adding a splash of colour to the mix as well. They’re actually painted by Lamborghini. The same paint company as Lamborghini. So you can add a real splash of colour to your kitchen and get a beautiful design.
Marke: Right, so whether you’re doing a new construction or maybe renos or whatever else, it’s great to incorporate all of that.
Catherine: Absolutely it is.
