It's that time of the year when people are polarized; you're either an avid lover of Valentine's Day or you're an absolute hater. Both parties take pride in their stance and they take pleasure in teasing the other party about their stance.
You know what's common between both types of people? They both love drinks!
A drink calls for coasters. Ta-da!!
For under $15, this Valentine's day we designed our own coasters. Here are the materials you need to make your own:
Cork coasters
Multi-surface acrylic paint. We used Craft Smart paint, but any brand will do. We went for 2 fl. oz./59 ml. bottles and we still have a lot of excess paint left, so don't buy bigger bottles if you plan on using the paint for this project only. A good thing about acrylic paint is that if (or when, rather) liquid falls on it, the colour will not come off.
Foam brushes
Tape
Scissors
Step 1: Admire your blank canvas
Step 2: Tape it to the design you like. We're going for stripes here.
We also used a sticky note and tape to make a heart stencil. It's easier for the paint to bleed if the paper is not secured well onto the coaster
Step 3: Paint it to the colour of your choice. The paint dries quickly and that helps with painting multiple layers for a more solid, matte look
Step 3: Let it dry for 30 minutes
Step 4: Take pictures of your creation before actually using the coasters!
