4 teaspoons yeast1 teaspoon sugar1 ¼ cup warm water (Kinetico is best)4 cups flour½ cup of sugar1 ½ teaspoons salt1 tablespoon oil½ cup baking soda4 cups of water2 tablespoons maple syrup
Put yeast, sugar and warm water in a bowl and let sit until bubbly.Add flour, sugar, salt, oil and mix in a mixer with a dough hook or by hand.Let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.Roll into pencil shapes, bows or knots.Boil water with soda and syrup. Drop pretzels in for 1 minute.
Place on a greased baking sheet and sprinkle with kosher salt, bake at 450 degrees for 10-15 min.
Note: if you'd like them sweet sprinkle with cinnamon sugar instead of salt.
